Nursery – Toddler Age Sunday Morning Servants
Nursery and Toddler age Sunday morning servants provide dependable, safe, secure, and nurturing care for children while at church.
Personal Responsibilities:
- Servants should remain spiritually healthy and vibrant. Personal study and devotion to God’s Word is expected of all children’s ministry volunteers.
- Servants should strive to participate in the 4 E’s of the church, encountering God in worship, encouraging one another in Life Groups, equipping themselves for ministry through discipleship, and engaging in ministry and evangelism inside and outside of the church.
- Complete any required training courses (Safe Kids).
- Plan to attend teacher training seminars and workshops (whenever possible). Watch trainings that are made available online.
Servant Responsibilities:
Sunday Morning
- Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the Sunday school or worship service hour (9:15 for the 9:30 service, and 10:45 for the 11:00 service).
- Greet parents and infants or toddlers upon arrival to the nursery/toddler classroom.
- Ask visitors to fill out appropriate information sheets. Baby-toddler instructions sheets are provided by the church.
- Ask about allergies, special needs or other important information related to the care of infants and toddlers.
- Answer questions for visitors.
- Check- in infants and toddlers using our security bracelet system.
- Provide age – appropriate care which includes: feeding, changing diapers, assisting with bathroom needs of potty – training aged children, maintain a safe environment, putting children down for naps, holding, rocking, walking, or sitting with and interacting with children through play, reading stories, or music.
- In the event of an emergency or prolonged crying of upset baby, notify the parents via the contact information the parent has provided. This may require notifying the SS Host, a Safe Team member, or Pastor Dustin.
- Complete attendance records and child information as directed by the children’s ministry department.
- Straighten the room and clean any toys/beds before leaving. All toys that have had contact with saliva will require special attention. A “clean these items” bin should be utilized and a sanitizing solution is available to be used for cleaning purposes. Empty trash cans after the 11:00 service.
- Report any issues or concerns to Pastor Dustin which you feel hinder the care and safety of the children in your care.
- Commit to being regular in attendance.
Outside of Sunday Morning
- Pray earnestly for children and their parents.
- Connect with families outside of Sunday morning. Send cards to visitors, emails, birthday cards, notes of encouragement, etc.
- Obtain coverage for your absence using the substitute list in advance of anticipated absences. Contact Pastor Dustin or Julie McElduff with any questions related to these procedures.
